I can't even begin to explain the reason why the kids hit this barrel but it is a very old tradition. It started in the Middle Ages when they thought that a dead black cat would keep a certain sickness away. So they say here in Denmark to" hit the cat out of the barrel". That's probably not a very good explanation but all that matters is that the kids have fun doing it! Max practiced with Thomas the morning of the party so Max was ready to hit as hard as he could! Jonas didn't want to try which is surprising because he loves to hit everything else.

Fastelavn(Carnival)
Max loves Spiderman. He wants everything with Spiderman on it. So, of course, he had to be Spiderman for Fastelavn. I made the mistake of showing him his costume a week before the party at his preschool so he wore the costume everyday up until the party. He was so proud to be Spiderman. Jonas was going to be Simba from the Lion King but he didn't want to be dressed up.
The Max as....SPIDERMAN!!!
In Max's class there is another half American. Her name is Sophia.
They played a lot of fun games at the party.
It was hard for Max to wait for the game to start and when it did he didn't really understand that you weren't supposed to use your hands to eat the cookie. But he didn't care, he just grabbed the cookie and ate it. Some of the other kids couldn't figure it out and just walked away from their cookies. Max made sure they were all eaten!

Bedstefar and the boys
Bedstefar and Bedstemor came over last weekend for Thomas' birthday and to go to the Royal Theater. They took care of the boys while Thomas and I went out for Sushi at the Skybar and then saw a movie in the movie theater for the first time in a few years! On Sunday, the day of Thomas' birthday we had brunch at the Marriott. It was a wonderful weekend with beautiful weather!
Bedstefar is good at reading to the boys and telling them stories
Goodnight stories
We are trying to be better about reading to the boys every night before they go to bed. They both love it but Jonas gets antsy after a couple pages.
Good habits begin early!
The very active child
We have realized that Jonas has a few more ants in his pants than his big brother. He never seems to get tired and can ALWAYS find something to get in to! He doesn't watch TV(which is much needed when I am trying to get dinner on the table) and he doesn't sit still long enough to finish reading a very short book. I blame Thomas for this gene!
